The Top restaurant is planning a 20th birthday celebration May 16-17.

 Let's hope this coronavirus thing blows over by then because it's bound to be one helluva weekend! For the time being, the popular and funky eatery at 30 N. Main St. has converted to take-out and delivery to satisfy its hungry clientele.

On Friday evening, a half-dozen customers obeyed social-distancing guidelines as they patiently waited on the back patio for their orders to be ready. Eyes widened each time Veronika Kelly, a front-of-the-house manager, emerged from the kitchen carrying a large meal-to-go bag.

"It's been pretty busy," Kelly said. "We're trying to hang on and stay relevant, serve the community and give our people hours."

The Top is open daily from 11 a.m.-10 p.m. The lunch menu includes gourmet burgers, baskets, salads, sandwiches and desserts. The pared-down dinner menu features a variety of appetizers, pastas and the other entrees that include vegetarian and vegan options. Beer and wine are also available to purchase. There are plans to soon add craft cocktails to-go. All food must be ordered by phone by calling 352.337.1188 or online at thetophub.com. 

Due to health precautions, only credit-card payments are accepted. Various delivery services, such as Grubhub and Uber Eats, also handle orders for The Top.
