Veteran’s Day celebration goes virtual in Alachua County

Alachua County Community Support Services’ Veteran Services Division and the Alachua County Communications Office have produced a Veterans Day Celebration video program honoring our veterans’ community. The Veterans Day program will premiere at 10 a.m. on Wednesday, November 11, 2020, on Cox Cable Channel 12, the County’s Video on Demand website, and the County’s Facebook page.
The program includes interviews with local veterans who discuss their service to our nation and what Veterans Day means to them. Alachua County Veterans Services Director Kim Davis and North Florida/South Georgia Veterans Health System Director Tom Wysneski are also featured, along with profiles of area veterans, and a look back at past Alachua County Veterans Day celebrations.
While the County would rather honor the veterans community with the annual Veterans Day Celebration at the Veterans Memorial Park, due to the COVID-19 Pandemic, the annual event is canceled. This program safely honors the County veterans’ community.
“All are encouraged to watch and honor our American heroes, who served our great nation,” said Alachua County Veteran Services Director Kim Davis.
