In a CCSO report, deputies responded to the area on SW Harmony Lane near State Road 47 about a half mile off Interstate 75 Exit 423 around 9 p.m. The body was located after the suspect, Javont’e Wilkins, 29, of Riverview, Florida, reported the incident to authorities in a neighboring county.

Hamilton County law enforcement took Wilkins into custody, he was booked Monday morning and charged with possession of a weapon.

The victim’s name is not being released at this time.

“This type of case is not common in our area,” said CCSO Sheriff Mark Hunter in a press release. “We want the public to know that we believe this is an isolated incident and there are no other threats to the public related to this incident. We will continue to work closely with our law enforcement partners as we investigate the case.”

The CCSO report states the Florida Department of Law Enforcement was requested to assist in the active investigation since multiple jurisdictions and agencies were involved and more details will be released when they become available.
