The Gainesville Police Department (GPD) is seeking two black male suspects who allegedly robbed a man at gunpoint early Sunday morning.
The incident occurred around 4 a.m. when a man was walking in the area of NW 15th Street and NW 3rd Avenue. According to a University of Florida Police Department (UFPD) release, a black SUV stopped in front of the man and two black males, each holding a handgun, pistol whipped the victim and stole his necklace and phone.
The robbery occurred 15 minutes after GPD was notified of an attempted residential burglary around 3:47 a.m. near NW 16th Street and NW 4th Avenue when a person answered a knock at his door and, when he opened the door, a black man was standing in the doorway pointing a handgun at him. The victim reportedly slammed the door closed and the suspect fled.
The suspect at the attempted residential burglary was approximately 5 feet, 8 inches tall, and was wearing a black hoodie and black sweatpants.
Police believe both the robbery and attempted residential burglary may be related.
