High Springs Police Chief Antoine Sheppard released the following statement about the May 29th shooting in High Springs, and asked for help in locating a suspect.

“Recently, our city experienced a shooting incident in the Douglas community on Friday, May 29th, 2020. This shooting was very disturbing and occurred near a park and between two daycares, where children were present and had to seek shelter.

High Springs Police Chief Antoine Sheppard.

Although our city is one of the safest in the area, it is not exempted from crime. As your police chief, I am committed and steadfast in holding criminality accountable. HSPD has been proactive in navigating community-related issues, which resulted in an arrest warrant being obtained for the alleged shooter within hours.
I want to take this opportunity to appeal to the community. If you witnessed this crime or any other crime, come forth.  If you know the whereabouts of the offender, report it. We cannot eradicate or solve crimes without your assistance. Far too often, we sit silent, and then we fail in our objective to maintain a safe and secure community.”
