Poe Springs Park closing in September

Alachua County’s Poe Springs Park (28800 N.W. 182nd Ave, High Springs) will be closed, except for the boat ramp, for construction and improvements beginning on September 8th. The construction will last until January of 2021. There will still be a $5.00 vehicle entry fee for the use of the ramp.

The work includes replacing the boardwalk to the springs, replacing the canoe/kayak launch, and replacing the restrooms.

“(These are) FEMA funded repairs from Hurricane Irma to the boardwalk,” said Gina Peebles, CPRP the Alachua County Assistant County Manager and Chief of Staff. “Additionally, we are widening it by an additional two feet (which I believe is WSPP funded). We are also replacing the restroom near the spring. It should be pretty nice. We’ve been delaying until after Labor Day so people could still enjoy swimming in the spring.”
