“First arriving deputies were able to determine that force entry had been made and believed the suspect was still inside based upon information they were receiving (via dispatch) from the homeowner who was remotely accessing his cameras.

The house was searched and no one was located inside, Forgey reported. The suspect was identified quickly and arrested at Newberry High School.

The suspect is a 15-year-old from Newberry. He was transported to the Sheriff’s Office for further investigation. He will ultimately be taken to the Juvenile Detention Center.

Newberry Elementary and Oak View Middle schools were locked down out of an abundance of caution for approximately 10 minutes.
