If you’re looking for the warm fuzzies this Valentine’s Day, the Alachua County Animal Services (ACAS) is here to help.

Starting today, ACAS is hosting a Valentine’s Day Adoption event that will run through Saturday, Feb. 13. During that time adoption fees are only $14 for cats and dogs.

The ACAS conducts adoptions daily from 10:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. at Animal Services Headquarters (3400 N.E. 53rd Avenue in Gainesville).

Mainstreet does not have a paywall, but pavement-pounding journalism is not free. Join your neighbors who make this vital work possible.

“We have over 100 cats and dogs looking for loving homes,” said ACAS Supervisor Jane Grantman. “Celebrate your Valentine’s Day by adopting a furry friend.”

Those who want to adopt pets must be at least 18 years old and show ID with proof of current address. If there are already pets in the home, the potential adopter must show proof that owned animals are current on rabies and license.

All animals available for adoption are examined, vaccinated, spayed or neutered, and microchipped prior to leaving Animal Services.
