The Humane Society of North Central Florida has resumed its full schedule of spay and neuter services as of June 1st and is now back to four days a week.
The shelter dropped to two days a week but remained open throughout the pandemic as an essential service. Now, spay and neuters are offered Monday through Thursday.
Changes is in the way the shelter operates since the COVID-19 pandemic affected businesses and services include curbside service with drop off and pick up of paperwork.
The thrift store located behind the shelter has reopened at 50 percent capacity and is receiving donations by appointment only, according to Receptionist Tyler Harris. Operating store hours are Tuesday through Saturday from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m.
At this time, “No textiles , cloths, rugs, blankets are being accepted by the store,” Harris said.
The Humane Society of North Central Florida is a leading resource for pets and pet owners with a mission “to eliminate the needless euthanasia of healthy and treatable pets in North Central Florida.”
The Alachua County Humane Society, Gainesville Pet Rescue and Helping Hands Pet Rescue joined forces in 2018 to streamline services for pets and the people who love them. The organization has been serving Alachua County for more than 40 years and operates as a non-profit 501(c)(3) organization dedicated to helping homeless pets.
