1 dead, 1 injured in I-75 accident

A freeway collision north of Lake City between a pickup truck and a semi truck resulted in one fatality and one injury Tuesday morning.

According to a Florida Highway Patrol account of the incident, around 10:15 a.m. a Ford pickup truck towing a trailer was northbound on the I-75 entrance ramp traveling westbound to Interstate 10. For unknown reasons, the truck left the paved roadway. When it re-entered the road, it traveled across the westbound lanes in a northern direction.

A semi traveling westbound on I-10 collided with the pickup’s passenger side, ejecting the two occupants out of the truck. Neither of them were wearing seatbelts.
