Breaking News overnight: Newberry man dies in vehicle crash

The Florida Highway Patrol responded to a vehicle crash last night at approximately 11:45 pm near the intersection of SW 282nd Street and SW 30th Avenue just west of Newberry.

According to the FHP’s incident report, a pickup truck driven by a 26-year old man from Newberry was traveling southbound on CR 337 approaching a left curve at SW 282nd Street when he ran off the roadway to the right. The driver then overcorrected, which caused the vehicle to overturn several times.

The driver was pronounced deceased on the scene by Alachua County Fire Rescue. 

The FHP did not release the name of the driver in the incident.
