Today’s Rising Senior spotlight is on Amariaun Dallas of Bronson High School.
Dallas will participate in football and basketball during his senior year. He will play defensive tackle and offensive line for the Eagles this fall. The 6’1, 275-pound senior recorded 55 tackles last year, including 14 tackles for loss, seven sacks, two forced fumbles, and one blocked kick.
His favorite high school sports moment was last year’s win at Ocala Christian Academy, which snapped a 19-game losing streak for the Eagles.
His favorite quote is from head coach Russell Holley who said, “Hard Work Beats Talent.”
Dallas works hard in the classroom too. He carries a 3.25 grade point average and currently has interest from some Division-2 and Division-3 schools.
The thing he is looking forward to the most about his senior year is “living in the moment because sadly it is ending.” His goals for his senior season are to win and make the state playoffs.
Dallas is one of eight starters returning on defense for the Bronson Eagles. A total of nine starters return on offense, giving the Eagles a strong nucleus to work with. Russell Holley, who was Bronson’s defensive coordinator last season, takes over as head coach for Seth Stebbins. Holley was part of an Eagles’ team that went from winless the previous season to a 4-6 record in 2019.
Bronson will host Ocala Christian Academy on Friday, September 4. Last year, Bronson defeated OCA on the road, 54-19.
Dixie County (Cross City) will travel to Trenton in two weeks. The Trenton football team is expecting to make it back-to-back state playoff appearances this fall. The Bears won last year’s meeting in Cross City, but the Tigers rebounded to win four of their next six to make the state playoffs, before falling to Chiefland in the regional quarterfinals.
On September 11, Williston will host North Florida Educational Institute of Jacksonville, Chiefland will travel to Lafayette (Mayo), and Bell will host Branford.
