Bronson wide receiver Jesse Williams

Senior Jesse Williams hauled in four catches for 145 yards and a touchdown in the first half as Bronson defeated Cornerstone Charter Academy (Belle Isle), 26-8, at home.

The Bronson football team jumped out to an 18-0 lead at the half and pitched a defensive shutout with a 26-8 win against Cornerstone Charter Academy (Belle Isle) on Friday night.

"We had a good mix on offense, and the defense played great," said Eagles' head coach Russell Holley. "They played lights out."

Jesse Williams caught four passes for 145 yards and a TD in the first half.

"It was a grind," Holley said. "Cornerstone tackled really well. We took advantage of our receivers."

Quarterback Riley Bray finished 6-of-10 for 95 yards and two touchdowns, while David Runion was 6-of-16 for 113 yards and one touchdown.

Williams, who was sick and played sparingly on offense in the second half, finished the game with two interceptions on defense.

It was the second straight win for the Eagles, who improved to 3-2.

"We needed this win," Holley said. "It was a little sloppy. We were down four players, players that we thought were going to play. We are still down, but Cornerstone is much improved."

Cornerstone Charter Academy's only score came on a pick-6 in the fourth quarter, meaning the Eagles kept them out of the end zone.

Bronson held the Ducks (0-3) to negative yards rushing in the game and limited them to less than 50 yards of total offense.

The Eagles are off this week and will host First Academy-Leesburg for homecoming on Friday, Oct. 8.

"We are going to try and get as healthy as possible," Holley said. "We are going to give some guys some time off."
