Firestine considers 30 scholarship offers after anchoring Chiefland’s offensive line in 2019

Today’s senior spotlight is on Braden Firestine of Chiefland High School.

Firestine was on the football team and was also a member of the track and field team.

He was a Gainesville Sun first team All-Area selection, as well as an All-District, and 2nd team All-State selection. Firestine played center for the Indians and consistently dominated defensive noseguards. He won the Outstanding Offensive Lineman award, and he received 30-plus offers from colleges for football scholarships.

This past season,  Chiefland advanced to its second straight region final. The Indians defeated Trenton and Newberry on the road before falling late at Pahokee. Firestine helped anchor an offensive line for a team that ran for over 3,200 yards.

His favorite quote is from assistant football coach Adam Gore who said, “Success breeds complacency, complacency breeds failure, only the paranoid survive.” 

In track and field, Firestine broke the discus record for Chiefland. He finished top 25 in the state and top 5 in the region. 

His plans after are to attend college and pursue a career in criminal justice
