Senior Spotlight: Mitchum’s bat led Santa Fe to the Elite 8 in 2019

Today’s senior spotlight is on Dave Mitchum of the Santa Fe High School baseball team in Alachua. 

Mitchum was off to a great start in his senior campaign, batting .367 with a team-leading 11 hits and nine runs driven in for the 6-4 Raiders.

Mitchum’s favorite high school sports moment was during his sophomore season when the Raiders rallied from a 4-1 deficit in the last inning against Tavares in the second round of the state playoffs and advanced to the Elite 8.

  He was named a Gainesville Sun 2nd-team All-Area selection as a junior, batting .344 with 10 doubles, two home runs, and 19 runs driven in, as the Raiders secured another postseason bid. 

His plans after high school are to attend Tallahassee Community College and play baseball.
