The Lake City Police Department (LCPD) reported that two men were shot Saturday morning, with one victim saying he attended a block party when someone started firing.
LCPD officers responded to Washington Street around 1:20 a.m. and found a man with two gunshot wounds to his lower body, shell casings on the ground and at least three vehicles damaged by bullets.
After stabilizing the victim and waiting for EMS, law enforcement learned that another gunshot victim had arrived at a local hospital via a private vehicle. Officers went and interviewed the victim, who said he was at a block party when the shots occurred.
LCPD Chief Gerald Butler asked anyone with information to come forward.
“We are thankful that this incident did not result in any fatalities,” Butler said in a press release. “However, this level of gun violence is unacceptable, and we are committed to pursuing those responsible.”
LCPD said it would continue investigating the incident. Anyone can report anonymously through the LCPD TIPS line, 886-719-2068 or through Crime Stoppers of Columbia County at 386-754-7099.
