The Matheson History Museum will present “Having Fun, Wish You Were Here! An Illustrated History of the Postcard in Florida” with Liz Coursen on Wednesday.

This event will take place at 7 p.m. at 513 East University Ave. in Gainesville.

Coursen, an award-winning editor and veteran postcard collector, will illustrate how Florida progressed from ox carts to Streamliners, and from alligator-infested waterways to bathing beauties cavorting on white-sand beaches, by using museum-quality postcards, many of which feature vintage views of Alachua County and Gainesville.

Coursen has collected postcards for more than 40 years and has lectured throughout the country about the history of postcards in America.
