
The Gainesville Reggae Festival will take place on Friday, Aug. 29, at the Heartwood Soundstage.
This free event will start at 7 p.m. at 619 S. Main St. and interactive cultural workshops will be held on Aug. 30, Sept. 6 and Sept. 13 at Depot Park (874 SE 4th St.).
The Friday, Aug. 29, concert will feature Itawe, Jah Movement, Maca Reggae Samba and Propoganjah, with Tasana opening the event.
The second edition of the festival will feature four live bands and a DJ. Attendees will enjoy cultural exhibits highlighting Caribbean and Jamaican heritage, along with authentic food, art and fashion vendors influenced by Caribbean and Jamaican styles—all within a high-energy, vibrant atmosphere.
The interactive workshops at Depot Park include:
- 6 p.m. on Saturday, Aug. 30 – Djembe Percussion with Djobi Irie
- 6 p.m. on Saturday, Sept. 6 – Samba Reggae with Corey Cheval
- 10 a.m. on Saturday, Sept. 13 – Percussion with Kenneth Metzker
