
Three local law enforcement agencies will provide a free 12-hour course in self-defense RAD (Rape Aggression Defense) for women over four nights in September.
The classes will be from 6 to 9 p.m. on Sept. 17, 18, 23 and 24, and women must attend all four nights. The classes will be held at the University of Florida Police Department (UFPD) located at 1555 Museum Rd. in Gainesville.
UFPD, the Santa Fe College Police Department and the Alachua County Sheriff’s Office will provide instructors for the classes.
RAD is a free 12-hour women’s self-defense course covering awareness, risk reduction and practical hands-on defense skills. Training ends with safe, full-contact scenarios against instructors in protective gear.
