The Matheson History Museum will host the 2025 Sarah’s Birthday Bash in honor of its namesake, Sarah Matheson, on Saturday, Sept. 13.

The free event will take place at 10 a.m. at 513 East University Ave. in Gainesville.

A local jazz band, MoonDancer, will perform from the front porch of the Matheson home in celebration of the birthday. Sarah was the last resident of the historic Matheson House, which was bequeathed to the Museum on her death in 1996.

Community organizations will be tabling in Sweetwater Park, featuring the Grind Coffee Truck, a pollinator-friendly plant giveaway, bilingual children’s storytelling, live music, coffee vendors and birthday cake.

Schedule of events:

• 10 a.m. – 4 p.m.: Community Organizations tabling in Sweetwater Park
• 10 a.m. – 1 p.m.: Pollinator Plant Giveaway with the Florida Museum of Natural History in Sweetwater Park
• 11 a.m.: Bilingual Children’s Storytelling with the Latina Women’s League
• Noon – 3 p.m.: Live Music by MoonDancer on the front porch of the Matheson House
