Four people were killed in a three-vehicle crash on US Highway 90 in Suwannee County on Tuesday night.
According to a Florida Highway Patrol (FHP) release, a 33-year-old Live Oak man was driving a Dodge Ram 1500 pickup truck westbound on US 90 east of 87th Drive at 9:50 p.m. For circumstances still to be determined, he crossed the center line and began traveling westbound in the eastbound lane and collided head-on with a 76-year-old Lake City woman driving a KIA Sorento SUV.
The pickup truck driver, who was not seat belted into his vehicle, was ejected from the vehicle as it overturned and was pinned under the left rear tire of the pickup truck.
A 44-year-old Live Oak man driving a Toyota Camry sedan eastbound on US 90 could not stop in time after the initial collision and the front of his vehicle struck the top of the hood of the pickup truck.
All vehicles caught fire after the collisions.
The Live Oak man driving the Dodge pickup, along with the Lake City woman driving the SUV, and her two passengers, also from Lake City – an 8-year-old girl and a 6-year-old girl – were all killed in the crash, according to the release.
The Live Oak man driving the Toyota Camry sustained serious injuries.
According to the FHP, the Live Oak man driving the Dodge pickup truck was in the United States illegally from Mexico. The U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) was notified and advised that the man re-entered through Texas in 2024.
