According to an Alachua County Fire Rescue (ACFR) release, units from ACFR, Melrose Fire Rescue, Windsor Fire Rescue and the Florida Division of Forestry responded to a multiple-acre fire near Campville, south of Orange Heights and north of Hawthorne, around 3 p.m.

Upon arrival, crews found an active fire burning in a dense part of the forest and moving north and west, while threatening nearby structures. Firefighters deployed resources to protect homes and other buildings while the Division of Forestry used heavy equipment to contain the fire, which burned nearly five acres.

The blaze was extinguished around 10:30 p.m., according to the ACFR release.
