Despite coming up short in the 5A state semifinal in Winter Haven to Archbishop McCarthy (Fort Lauderdale), Gainesville leads the 2025 Bosshardt Realty Big School All Area team.

Gainesville has three selections, which is tied with Santa Fe, selected to the first team.

Gainesville opened the season 3-4 but really caught fire late to win its district and regional title. The Hurricanes were led this year by senior and West Florida signee Rowan Kage.

Kage played RS/Opp for the Hurricanes. Gainesville head coach Jerica Carter-Mitchell, who played for the Hurricanes on their last state title teams in 2003 and 2004, says it’s going to be hard to replace Kage.

“Rowan has been an all-around threat for the Hurricanes,” Carter-Mitchell said. “She had 302 kills, 35 blocks, 33 aces and 196 digs on the season. Rowan is an irreplaceable player. We could depend on her to get a crafty kill in close matches. She is a great leader and her teammates respect her. I’m excited to follow her collegiate career playing for the West Florida Argonauts.”

Joining Kage are sophomore Jacey Carter-Mitchell and junior Charlotte Judge.

Jacey Carter-Mitchell was third for Gainesville with 205 kills and led the Hurricanes with 69 blocks at middle blocker.

“Jacey was key to the Hurricane offense and defense,” said Jerica Carter-Mitchell of her daughter. “She had 205 kills on a .402 hitting percentage and 69 blocks. With her heavy arm swing, Jacey can terminate the ball well. I am looking forward to two more years of coaching Jacey.”

Judge played setter for the Hurricanes.

“Charlotte played with passion, composure and grit every moment that she was on the court,” said Jerica Carter-Mitchell. “She tallied 701 assists, 171 digs and 28 aces this season. She did a great job spreading out the offense and making smart setting choices in tight matches.”

Santa Fe matched Gainesville with three first-team selections. The Raiders were 20-10 and advanced to the 4A-Region 2 Final, where they were eliminated by Merritt Island in straight sets.

Seniors Delaney Wingenbach and Brooke Findley were both key to another successful year for Santa Fe. Wingenbach, who signed with Georgia Southern, led Santa Fe with 333 kills at outside hitter.

“I look forward to seeing what Delaney does in college as she has worked extremely hard to get there.” Santa Fe coach Eric Marshall said.

Findley was second on the team with 283 kills and also had 31 aces and 176 digs at middle blocker.

“Brooke had her best year this year as she was almost unstoppable at the net,” Marshall added. “She is one of the most coachable kids I have ever coached.”

The third Santa Fe representative on the first team is junior Karlee Noah. Noah led the Raiders with 440 digs and added 37 aces at libero.

“Karlee Noah is the most consistent player on the floor all the time,” Marshall said. “The future is very bright for her.”

The final member of the first team is Columbia senior Sinei Wood at outside hitter. Columbia only finished 13-13 and out of the state playoffs, but Wood had a dominating season for the Tigers with 409 kills. She also led the team with 65 aces and 26 blocks and was second with 344 digs.

Santa Fe also landed three players on the second team. Senior setter Gracyn Marshall is one of two Raiders left from their back-to-back state championship teams in 2021 and 2022. Marshall, who has signed to play at West Florida, led Santa Fe with 472 assists, going over 1,000 for her career, while adding 208 digs and 39 service aces.

“She’s one of the most consistent hard-working players with very high volleyball IQ,” Eric Marshall said.

Joining Gracyn Marshall on the second team are junior RS/Opp Ella Schneider and freshman middle blocker Ajha Graddy.

Schneider had 379 assists, 217 digs, and 26 blocks while adding 169 kills.

“This was Ella’s first year with us and we saw incredible improvement,” Eric Marshall said. “I can’t wait to see what she does next year.”

Graddy added 205 kills and 26 blocks.

“Ajha was one of our most consistent players all year as a freshman, so the next three years she will become a dominant middle,” Eric Marshall said.

Gainesville senior libero Addy Hauptman represents the Hurricanes on the second team. Hauptman helped lead GHS to the final four with a team-high 321 digs, going over 1,000 for her career, and was second on the team with 34 aces.

“Addy Hauptman led the team with 321 digs, 453 receptions, and 34 aces,” Gainesville coach Jerica Carter-Mitchell said. “She made countless remarkable plays that kept our opponents from scoring.  She was the life of our defense, a great leader, and will be hard to replace. I am so proud of Addy’s commitment to our success.”

Buchholz also had a successful season, finishing 20-6 and winning the District 2-6A title while advancing to the second round of the state playoffs, being eliminated by eventual 6A state champion Oviedo. The Bobcats also ended an 11-game losing streak to Santa Fe and a nine-game skid against rival Gainesville.

Buchholz places two players on the second team with freshman outside hitter Taylor Sembower and sophomore middle blocker Aaliyah Ray.

Sembower led Buchholz with 274 kills and added 35 aces, 22 blocks and 195 digs.

“Taylor is a true six rotation outside that does it all and can impact the game on every phase of play,” Buchholz coach Andre Medina said. “For a freshman to immediately make a huge impact from first match to last is quite a feat and she will be a force to reckon with in the future.”

Ray led Buchholz with 41 aces and 43 blocks while tallying 141 kills.

“A physical workhorse for us in the middle this year, she (Ray) made teams have to game plan purely for her,” Medina said. “One of the quickest athletes you’ll see moving side-to-side and has a great read on the game, which is why she is one of our leaders on the block. She forces so many hitting errors, which don’t show up on her stat sheet.”

The final two members of the Big School All-Area team come from the Newberry Panthers. Newberry finished 19-9 and district champions and advanced back to the 3A state playoffs.

Freshman outside hitter Carly Myers led Newberry with 355 kills and 371 digs and added 53 aces.

“Carly had a great year for us,” Newberry coach Hank Rone said. “She set several records as a freshman and set the double-double record with 19 this season. I expect before she leaves, she will hold a lot of records for her career. I’m so glad she stayed home and played for Newberry.”

Junior setter Kinsley Harvey led the Panthers with 605 assists and 75 aces.

“She is from Newberry and decided to transfer back from The Rock and has had an immediate impact for us,” Rone said. “She’s a force at the serving line with 75 aces and averaged seven assists per set. She’s just very coachable. She distributed the ball extremely well this season, especially during the postseason.”
