The Lady Blue Wave, who won their sixth straight district title last year, earned the No. 1 seed in Class 2A-District 3 and will receive a bye. They will host the winner of tonight’s game between No. 5 seed Trenton and No. 4 seed Trinity Catholic (Ocala) at 6 p.m. in Thursday’s district semifinals.

P.K. Yonge (8-4-3), which has advanced to four straight regional finals and just missed a second straight final four last year, would host the district championship game at 6 p.m. on Monday with a win on Thursday.

In the other district semifinal, No. 2 seed Newberry (17-1-2) hosts No. 3 seed Williston (9-4-1). On Jan. 9, P.K. Yonge and Newberry tied 1-1, while the Lady Blue Wave blanked Williston, 5-0, in the season opener on Nov. 3.

The only other area team that has a chance to repeat is Santa Fe (Alachua) (1-15-2).

The Lady Raiders, who defeated Eastside, 2-0, in last year’s title game, are the No. 5 seed in Class 3A-District 4 and will travel to No. 4 seed Eastside (3-10) at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday in the quarterfinals.

Dixie County (Cross City) (7-5-2), which is the No. 1 seed in 2A-District 2, is seeking its first regional playoff appearance in school history.

The highest-ranked area team on the boys’ side is Buchholz, which is ranked 13th overall in Florida and second in Class 6A, behind top-ranked Niceville.

The Bobcats (14-0-1) completed an unbeaten season with a 9-2 victory against GHS last Wednesday at Citizens Field to win the Gainesville City Cup.

Buchholz is the No. 1 seed in 6A-District 3 and will play either No. 4 seed Nease (Ponte Vedra) (11-7-2) or No. 5 seed Matanzas (Palm Coast) (12-5-1) at 7:20 p.m. on Friday at tournament-host Matanzas.

The district championship is at 7 p.m. on Tuesday, Jan. 27, against either No. 2 seed Bartram Trail (St. Johns) (9-3-3) or No. 3 seed Tocoi Creek (St. Augustine) (12-2-2).

Santa Fe (Alachua) is the next highest-ranked team at No. 135 overall.

The Raiders (9-4-3), who won the 3A-District 4 title last year and advanced to the second round of the FHSAA state playoffs, are the No. 1 seed in their district. They received a bye and will host either No. 4 seed Palatka or No. 5 seed North Marion (Citra) at 7:30 p.m. in Friday’s district semifinals.

Keystone Heights (11-7-3) is the No. 2 seed and will host either No. 3 seed Eastside (4-8-3) or No. 6 seed Interlachen (7-14-1) in the other district semifinal. The district championship game will be played at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday, Jan. 27, at the highest seed remaining.
