The city of High Springs will host an Arbor Day Tree Planting and Giveaway on Saturday, Jan. 24, at the High Springs Civic Center Park.
This event will take place from 10 a.m. to noon at 19107 NW 240TH St.
Attendees may receive a complimentary sprout giveaway (first-come, first-served and one per family), and will have the opportunity to listen to presentations from several distinguished guest speakers and enjoy complimentary light refreshments.
There will also be a planting of a Live Oak and a native Red Maple in the park.
“Trees add value to a community through shade, improved air quality, and reduction in run-off,” said Tree Advisory Board Chair, Joanne Tremblay.
Officially, Florida’s Arbor Day is observed on the third Friday of January. Due to Florida’s climate, the cooler winter months are considered the most appropriate time for planting trees.
