Alachua County Sheriff’s Office seeks public help in weekend shooting

The Alachua County Sheriff’s Office (ACSO) is seeking the public’s help regarding a person shot at a residence in the 8400 block of NE 77th Lane in Gainesville.

According to an ACSO release, law enforcement responded on Sunday morning to the report of a person shot.

Upon arrival, law enforcement found an adult male with a gunshot wound. Emergency responders transported him to an area hospital for treatment and the victim is expected to survive.

ACSO detectives and crime scene investigators located on-scene evidence of a shooting and are still investigating the incident.

Community members are asked to help with this crime. If anyone heard or witnessed anything suspicious in the area of NE 77th Lane (off NE Waldo Road) between 11:30 p.m. on Saturday, Jan. 31, through 12:15 a.m. on Sunday, Feb. 1, is asked to call 352-367-4053 or email tbeville@alachuasherrif.org.

Residents can also submit tips anonymously by contacting Alachua County Crime Stoppers Inc at 352-372-STOP (7867).

Due to this being an active case and additional details will not be released at this time.
