The Gilchrist County Chamber of Commerce recently awarded Palms Medical Group its 2026 Business of the Year award at its annual banquet on Feb. 17 in Trenton.

According to a release, the award reflects the 55 years of “trust, loyalty and partnership between Palms Medical Group and the community.”

Palms Medical Group was founded in 1971 by the Gilchrist County Medical Board and the Trenton Rotary Club as Trenton Medical Center. The organization provided a critical need to Gilchrist County as its first medical provider.

In 2025, Palms Medical Group served more than 70,000 patients across 13 locations in seven North Central Florida counties.

“Gilchrist County is where Palms began, and this award is a meaningful reminder of the trust this community has placed in us for more than five decades,” said Anita Rembert, CEO of Palms Medical Group, in the release. “Our growth and success are rooted in the people who supported us from the start, and we’re honored to continue serving them.”

According to the release, the award is both a celebration of the medical group’s 55-year legacy and a reaffirmation of its mission to enhance the health and well-being of the communities it serves.

“No matter how much we expand, Trenton will always be home for Palms,” Rembert added. “The foundation built here shaped who we are today, and it continues to guide our mission for the future. We’re proud of our history in Gilchrist County and committed to carrying that legacy forward.”
