UPDATE (Wednesday, March 11, 10:50 am) The Gainesville Police Department (GPD) released new information regarding the alleged drive-by shooting that injured two victims on Tuesday evening was actually an accidental shooting.
According to the GPD investigation, officers confirmed that it did not happen at the Clarence R. Kelly Community Center and Park.
After initial reports suggested the incident may have been a drive-by shooting, further investigation revealed the situation, which involved two 19-year-old males from Gainesville, may have occurred when one of the individuals accidentally discharged a firearm that struck both him and grazed the second individual.

Two people were shot in a reported drive-by shooting in the 1700 block of NE 8th Avenue in Gainesville on Tuesday evening.
According to a Gainesville Police Department (GPD) release, officers responded around 6:25 p.m. to the report of someone being shot. Upon arrival, the officers discovered two individuals with non-life-threatening gunshot wounds.
An initial investigation indicated the incident appeared to be a drive-by shooting.
The two victims were transported to a local hospital to receive treatment for their wounds.
