Detectives with the Lake City Police Department (LCPD) are asking for the public’s help in locating a man wanted in connection with a shooting that left one person seriously injured on June 14.

According to an LCPD press release, officers responded at approximately 11:15 p.m. on Sunday to the rear parking lot of Gleason Plaza, 209 NW Hutton Drive, after receiving reports of a person who had been shot.

When officers arrived, they found an adult man suffering from a gunshot wound to his leg. The victim had applied a makeshift tourniquet before officers arrived and was transported to a hospital as a trauma alert.

Because of the severity of his injuries, the victim was unable to provide a detailed statement the night of the shooting. During a recorded interview the following day, the victim identified 42-year-old Johnathan Mahorian as the alleged shooter.

Detectives have conducted extensive investigative efforts, including searching locations where Mahorian was believed to be and using emergency cellular location information, but have not located him.

An arrest warrant has been issued charging Mahorian with attempted murder. He remains at large. Mahurien is a white homeless man who is bald with brown eyes. He is 5-foot-6 and weighs approximately 160 pounds

“Violent acts like this have no place in our community,” said Lake City Police Chief Gerald Butler in the press release. “Our detectives have worked tirelessly to identify and locate the suspect, and we are committed to bringing him into custody. We ask anyone who knows where Mahorian is to contact law enforcement immediately. We also remind the public not to approach him, but to call 911 if he is seen.”

Anyone with information about Mahorian’s whereabouts or the shooting is asked to contact LCPD at 386-752-4343. Anonymous tips can be submitted through the LCPD TIPS line at 386-719-2068 or Crime Stoppers of Columbia County at 386-754-7099.
