Hundreds of people are expected to gather at Depot Park on Saturday, June 27, as part of the nationwide “All of U.S. 250” series of rallies.
The event is scheduled from 6 to 8 p.m. at Depot Park Circle, located at the intersection of Main Street and Depot Avenue in Gainesville.
According to organizers, the rally is intended to protest what participants describe as anti-democratic actions by the Trump administration, including U.S. involvement in the war in Iran, inflation, immigration policies, efforts affecting voting rights, and concerns about corruption and the rule of law.
The program will feature live music led by The Singing Resistance, along with speakers, group chants and a mutual aid drive. Organizers encourage attendees to bring signs, costumes and other displays of support.
The event is being organized by a coalition of local and regional groups, including Gainesville Women for Democracy, Badass Feminists Gainesville, the Democratic Women’s Club of Alachua County, 50501gnv, the Party for Socialism and Liberation, Indivisible Gainesville, the Alachua County Labor Coalition, Young Democratic Socialists of America and other community organizations.
Organizers expect the event to be one of several demonstrations taking place across the country as part of the coordinated day of action.
