Alachua police seek 2 suspects who burglarized Brown’s Country Buffet

The Alachua Police Department (APD) is asking the public to help identify two suspects in connection with a burglary at Brown’s Country Buffet on June 13.

According to an APD release, the burglary occurred at approximately 10:05 p.m. on June 13 at 14423 NW US Highway 441. Two suspects entered the business through the rear of the building with their faces covered and wearing gloves.

Once inside, the suspects went directly to the cash register area, where they forced entry into multiple registers and the business’s main money box. Investigators said the suspects also used a Ryobi circular saw equipped with a red Milwaukee blade to cut into a larger safe.

Surveillance footage showed the suspects carrying several tools, including a bright yellow pry bar with visible wear marks and orange-handled wire cutters. Detectives said the suspects cut the wire to the business’s interior video system at approximately 10:07 p.m. before fleeing through the rear of the building around 10:09 p.m.

The first suspect was described as wearing a black long-sleeved shirt, black pants, black gloves and white Adidas Lite Racer Adapt 4.0 running shoes. The suspect concealed his face with a tied teal or turquoise-colored shirt.

The second suspect was described as wearing a dark blue long-sleeve shirt, black jeans, light blue underwear visible above the waistband, white gloves, black shoes that may display the word “ASAP” on the side and a camouflage backpack. The suspect concealed his face with a black shirt.

Detectives are asking anyone who observed suspicious activity around Brown’s Country Buffet, NW 125th Street, NW 150th Avenue, Alachua Forest or the Alachua Hills neighborhood between approximately 9:30 and 10:30 p.m. on June 13 to contact law enforcement. Investigators are also seeking surveillance footage from residences and businesses in the area during that time period.
