Pickup hits, kills Gainesville woman, 43, walking along US 129 near Chiefland

A 43-year-old Gainesville woman died Wednesday night after being struck by a pickup truck while walking along US 129 south of County Road 320 northeast of Chiefland.

According to a Florida Highway Patrol (FHP) release, the woman was walking in the rightmost part of the southbound lane of US 129 just south of the County Road 320 intersection in Levy County at 9:38 p.m. when she was hit by a 70-year-old Trenton man driving a pickup truck south on US 129.

Emergency responders pronounced the woman dead on scene.
