Alachua County gives update on FY26 3rd quarter road projects

Alachua County released its fiscal year 2026 third-quarter road projects report on Friday as part of its historic $250 million, 10-year Transportation Capital Improvement Program, with millions of dollars in roadway and safety improvements completed, under construction or moving through the pre-construction phase.

Since voters approved the Wild Spaces & Public Places surtax, 42 transportation projects totaling $46 million have been completed, according to an Alachua County release sent on Friday. The projects have improved more than 110 lane miles of roadway and added nine new crosswalk and signal projects throughout the county.

The following projects were among those completed during the third quarter:

  • Northwest 23rd Avenue — $11.6 million
  • Northeast/Northwest 53rd Avenue — $8.5 million
  • Garth-Davis, Lake Shore subdivision roads — $398,000
  • Kincaid subdivision roads — $369,000
  • Idlywild subdivision roads — $380,000
  • Lake Ridge subdivision roads — $340,000
  • Orange Heights subdivision roads — $269,000
  • Burritt Estates subdivision roads — $142,000
  • Pennington subdivision roads — $144,000

Projects under construction

Twelve transportation projects totaling $20.4 million are currently under construction. Four projects were added during the third quarter.

Projects under construction include:

  • Northwest 122nd Street — $4.5 million
  • Two segments of Northeast County Road 1471 — $5 million
  • Northwest 202nd Street — $2.8 million
  • Fort Clarke Boulevard — $2 million
  • Southwest 122nd Street — $1.8 million

Projects in pre-construction

Another 32 transportation projects totaling $53.6 million are in the pre-construction phase. Three projects were added during the third quarter.

Projects in pre-construction include:

  • Two segments of County Road 235 — $10.4 million
  • County Road 234 — $3.7 million
  • Holden Park Road — $3.4 million
  • Kincaid Loop Trail — $3.2 million
  • Northwest 39th Avenue — $2.9 million
