Multiple Alachua County Sheriff’s Office (ACSO) deputies responded to the 6000 block of SE 223rd Street in Hawthorne late Monday afternoon after receiving a report of a person being shot.
Upon arrival, deputies located an adult male suffering from a single gunshot wound. Deputies provided immediate medical aid before emergency medical personnel arrived, according to an ACSO release.
Alachua County Fire Rescue personnel transported the victim to a local hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.
ACSO detectives and crime scene investigators responded to the scene to investigate the circumstances surrounding the shooting. The investigation remains active and ongoing.
