Lake City teen shot in head

A 19-year-old male received a gunshot wound to the head along SE Putnam Street in Lake City on Friday afternoon.

According to a Lake City Police Department (LCPD) release, officers responded at 5 p.m. to the report of a person shot and located the injured teenager.

The victim was alert but was unable to tell the officers who fired the shot. Emergency responders transported the victim to a trauma center.

LCPD’s Criminal Investigation Division with assistance from the Columbia County Sheriff’s Office crime scene technicians processed the crime scene.

LCPD asks anyone who has information regarding this incident to call 386-752-4343 and speak with LCPD investigator Sapp.
