A man died following a domestic dispute that led to a Saturday shooting at The Polos Apartments in Gainesville.
According to a Gainesville Police Department (GPD) social media post, officers responded to a domestic battery early in the evening at the 2300 block of SW Williston Road where a suspect physically assaulted his ex-girlfriend inside her apartment and fled.
The victim’s father also arrived at the apartment and, around 30 minutes later, the suspect returned and entered the victim’s apartment. The ex-girlfriend’s father – armed with a handgun – fired on shot into the suspect’s chest.
The suspect fled the apartment and GPD officers responding to the second incident around 9:30 p.m. discovered him next to his car. The officers started CPR and EMS arrived and pronounced the suspect dead.
