Semi hits, kills pedestrian on CR 232 in Alachua County

A tractor-trailer hit and killed a 68-year-old Indianapolis man walking along County Road 232 in Alachua County early Tuesday morning.

According to a Florida Highway Patrol (FHP), a 60-year-old Jacksonville man was driving a tractor-trailer eastbound on CR 232 just west of State Road 24 (Waldo Road) at 1:10 a.m. when he collided with the pedestrian walking within the eastbound travel lane.

Emergency responders pronounced the pedestrian dead on scene.

Neither the tractor-trailer driver nor his passenger, a 30-year-old Jacksonville man, were injured.
