Gas prices remain steady over holidays

The Christmas and New Year’s holiday weeks generated very little price changes in the average cost per gallon of gas.

According to Thursday’s AAA weekly report, the gas prices in the Gainesville area decreased one cent from $3.08 to $3.07 since Dec. 21. Florida’s statewide average price per gallon went down four cents to $3.02. Nationwide, the price slid three cents to $3.09.

“January is a bit of blah time of year, and gas prices are in the doldrums as well,” said Andrew Gross, AAA spokesperson, in the press release. “Barring some unexpected shock to the global oil market, gas prices will likely shuffle up and down a few cents for a while.”
