Gilchrist County Sheriff Bobby Schultz arrested an alleged pedophile Sunday in the SE Trenton City Park.
According to a Gilchrist County Sheriff Office press release, Schultz received a call about a suspicious vehicle at the park and, when he responded, observed the reported vehicle commit several traffic infractions. Schultz stopped the vehicle and, after investigating, determined the driver was wanted.
Schultz arrested Juan Pablo Gamoba Vazquez, 38, who was wanted out of Alachua County for lewd and lascivious molestation of a child on a $1 million warrant. GSCO transported Vazquez to the Gilchrist County Jail.
“Sheriff Bobby Schultz encourages all our Citizens to be aware of their surroundings and to report suspicious activity,” the GSCO statement said. “Sheriff Schultz also commends the concerned citizen who reported this suspicious activity that resulted in the arrest of a wanted person.”
Vazquez will be transferred to the Alachua County Jail, according to GSCO Lt. Keagon Weatherford in a phone interview.
