A male suspect allegedly robbed a Lake City Walgreens at gunpoint Sunday morning and fled on foot with cash taken from a safe.
According to a Lake City Police Department (LCPD) release, the suspect entered the Walgreens at 2094 W. US Highway 90 at 6:25 a.m. and asked an employee to speak to the manager.
The suspect allegedly said that he had lost his photo identification in Walgreens and asked the manager if it had been turned in. When the manager entered the office, the suspect placed a handgun into an employee’s back and ordered the safe to be opened.
The manager gave the suspect the money in the safe and the suspect ordered the employees to turn away while he exited the store. He fled on foot in a southwestern direction.
Employees described the suspect as a black male wearing a white hoodie with a gray hood, black pants, black shoes and he had a white surgical mask covering his face.
No one was hurt during the incident.
