Before entering the residence, a social services program manager told the officers that a client had not been heard from in several days, an uncommon occurrence.

After discovering the body, the officers began treating the death as a homicide based on initial evidence. Investigators from LCPD and the Florida Department of Law Enforcement arrived on scene and took over the investigation.

Law enforcement is not releasing any additional information about the victim until a positive identification can be made, and an LCPD release said the investigation is still in the initial stages.

LCPD asks that anyone with information to contact Investigator Gutshall at 386-752-4343, calling the LCPS TIPS line anonymously at 386-719-2068 or Crime Stoppers of Columbia County at 386-754-7099.
