Two suspects fled Lake City police officers responding to gunfire at the Cedar Park Apartments on Wednesday.

The Lake City Police Department (LCPD) were dispatched to 411 NW Bascom Norris Drive at 4:23 p.m. to the report of gunfire. When officers arrived, they could not locate the crime scene or any victim or witnesses willing to provide information, according to a department press release.

An individual who asked to remain anonymous stopped the officers as they were leaving the area and provided a description of two black males and the direction they left from Cedar Park Apartments, the LCPD release said.

Officers spotted the two suspects around NE Ark Place and, when the officers approached, the two men fled. The LCPD release said officers established a perimeter but were unable to locate the two males.

After returning to the original crime scene, officers located several spent shell casings that they collected and processed as evidence.

If anyone has any information on either of these incidents, LCPD asks them to contact the LCPD at (386) 752-4343 and speak with an investigator.

This incident marks one of many shootings recently in the Lake City area. LCPD responded to two gunfire incidents earlier this month and one in February. The Lake City Council has approved the installation of cameras in troubled areas, and last month local and federal authorities teamed up to make seven arrests in connection with recent shootings.
