Pillars of Service Awards luncheon to celebrate impactful contributions to SF College

The Santa Fe College Foundation will hold its annual Pillars of Service Awards luncheon on Wednesday, March 4.  

The event is scheduled to begin at 11:30 a.m. at the Hilton University of Florida Conference Center (1714 SW 34th St., Gainesville). 

The Pillars of Service Awards, which launched in January 2025, “are given to those who have made a significant impact on Santa Fe College and the community in Alachua and Bradford counties” and also honor a SF College student who “who make contributions with lasting difference,” according to a SF College release.

This year, awards are being presented to three individuals and an organization.  

The honorees are: 

Greg Bradley (Alachua County) 

Bradley is described as a visionary leader, entrepreneur, and steadfast advocate for education. He is a longtime member and former board president of the Santa Fe College Foundation who successfully helped drive the college’s $16 million fundraising campaign. Bradley also founded Mirror Image Leadership Academy, a community initiative dedicated to developing authentic leadership among young Black men. 

Dr. Dan Rodkin (Alachua County)  

Rodkin serves as associate vice president for Student Affairs at Santa Fe College and is described as a committed community leader. Rodkin drove the development of SF Achieve and Freedom to Learn, unique student success programs. He also serves on the boards for Climb for Cancer Foundation, the UF Health Center for Autism and Neurodevelopment and the Rotary Club of Gainesville Sunrise.  

John Miller (Bradford County)  

Miller has served as the owner and publisher of the Bradford County Telegraph since 1969. He is also an emeritus member of the Santa Fe College Foundation Board and a philanthropic advocate for the college’s student success and programs. Miller has spent his life preserving the civic fabric of Bradford County while championing education as a cornerstone of community growth. 

Builders Association of North Central Florida (organization honoree)  

The Builders Association of North Central Florida (BANCF) has been a committed partner with Santa Fe College’s apprenticeship programs. Advancing education, workforce development and economic opportunity, BANCF plays a critical role for students pursuing careers in construction and the skilled trades, providing educational access and opening doors to high-demand, high-paying careers that serve the region. 

The Student Pillars of Service Award is going to Charlotte Barone, a former Marine and Honors student whose perseverance in the face of difficult odds made her an influential campus leader and mentor. A major in health services administration and peer coach to other students, Barone’s achievements include service in SSS/TRIO, Phi Theta Kappa, the Freedom to Learn initiative and the Global Scholars Program, where she was honored as a Global Scholar Citizen.
