Alachua County Public Schools (ACPS) has updated its proposed elementary school rezoning maps again, leaving high school and middle school maps as they are for now.

Parents can use the interactive maps to see how their specific address would be affected.

Though district staff has been working on comprehensive rezoning since April, they stopped updating maps at the end of October to focus on data about the zoning’s economic impact. On Nov. 15, the School Board of Alachua County (SBAC) redirected staff to keep updating maps.

This is the first change to the proposed zoning since that meeting.

The proposed maps are planned to come before the SBAC for a final vote on Jan. 15, but several board members have said they are willing to vote against the changes if the final maps do not solve the imbalance of overcrowded and under-enrolled schools.

The latest proposed map for elementary school zoning includes the following changes:

  • The area north of NW 8th Avenue, south of NW 23rd Avenue, west of NW 43rd Street and east of NW 55th Street, including but not limited to Suburban Heights, would be reassigned back to Littlewood Elementary.
  • The area west of I-75, east of SW 75th Street, south of University Avenue and north of 24th Avenue, including but not limited to Harbor Cove Apartments, Hidden Oaks Mobile Home Community, The Hammocks of Newberry, Bentwood Apartments, The Gardens, Fox Hollow and Pine Meadow Apartments will be assigned to Hidden Oak Elementary School.
  • The apartment complexes fronting SW 75th Street and south of University Avenue, including but not limited to Reflections Apartment, Cricket Club, Sparrow Condominiums and Woodside Villas will be assigned to Chiles Elementary.
  • In Newberry, the area north of SW 46th Avenue, west of SW 282 St., east of SW 298th Street and south of SW 30th Avenue will remain in the Newberry Elementary zone.
  • On the border of the Newberry city limits, the area east of NW 202 Street, north of Newberry Road, west of NW 186th Street and south of NW 46th Avenue will remain in Newberry Elementary.
  • The dividing line between the zones for Archer and Newberry elementary schools will be SW 202 Street from Newberry Road to SW 46th Avenue.
  • In Gainesville, the area north of NW 16th Boulevard, east of NW 43rd Street, west of NW 38th Street and south of NW 30th Place, including but not limited to Whisperwood Apartments and Pebble Creek Villas will be zoned for Glen Springs Elementary.
