With the understanding that when and how Florida schools will open are still unknown, Alachua County Public Schools is beginning registration for school and for the district’s after school Extended Day Enrichment Program (EDEP) this week.

“Although we don’t know what school will look like in the fall, we still need to know how many new students we can expect and get contact information so that we’ll be able to communicate with the families of those students,” said Kim Neal, the district’s director of FTE/Student Reporting and the Office of Student Assignment.

Registration for the 2020-2021 school year is open now. Those who need to be registered include incoming kindergarten students and any student who will be new to Alachua County Public Schools or is returning after a gap in enrollment.

The district’s registration form has been moved online this year, although families will still need to provide documents directly to the school to complete the process.  The form and other enrollment information, including a list of required documents, are available on the Office of Student Assignment page

New families will need to create a temporary account to gain access to the enrollment portal. Directions to do so are available on the same site.

For families with children already in our schools, the new student online enrollment will be done through the district’s Skyward Family Access system. Current families who do not have an active Family Access account should contact their child’s school to create one. Parents who need additional assistance with online enrollment may also contact the school their child is zoned to attend.

Required enrollment documents include the parent’s photo ID, two proofs of residency, the child’s birth certificate, proof of a physical examination within one year of the start of school, an immunization record (Florida Immunization Form DH680), and the child’s social security card (requested, not required).  If there are special court documents or other important paperwork, parents should also provide that to the school.

For families interested in after-school programming, the registration period for EDEP (Extended Day Enrichment Program) will also open this week. EDEP is available on all elementary school campuses. Weekly fees are based on household income and range from $20 to $48 each week. EDEP has limited enrollment and is first come, first served. The application and other information about the program are available here.

For incoming kindergarten students, EDEP registration for the 2020-2021 school year begins May 20 at 9 a.m. All other grades may apply beginning May 21 at 9 a.m. Applications for incoming 1st-5th graders that come in before 9 a.m. on May 21 will not be accepted.
