Lake Butler woman dies in single-vehicle crash

A 79-year-old Lake Butler woman died when her vehicle left State Road 24 and struck a tree on Monday morning.

According to a Florida Highway Patrol (FHP) release, the woman was driving southeast on SR 24 in Alachua County when, for unknown reasons, her sedan went off the right shoulder and struck a tree.

Emergency responders pronounced the woman dead on scene.
