High Springs has started seeing new activity at Fellowship Baptist Church on US 441 following the purchase of the property by Palms Medical Group.
The building remained empty and for sale over the past two years. Alachua County considered buying the property in March 2021 as a service hub for High Springs, Alachua and Newberry. But, the county commission decided to let the opportunity pass.
Later in 2021, the church grounds became one of Florida’s first monoclonal antibody sites and averaged 130 patients per day in the first week.
With the new purchase, the site will pivot toward medical care. The non-profit company provides services across North Central Florida and plans to open at the High Springs location next year.
The group also has locations in Bell, Branford, Chiefland, Gainesville, Lake City, Lake City West, Live Oak, Orange Park, Starke, Trenton and Williston.
