On Tuesday, the Alachua County Supervisor of Elections Office (SOE) will mark National Voter Registration Day, a nonpartisan civic holiday intended to encourage eligible voters to participate in the democratic process.
Tomorrow the SOE will help with voter registration from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the Santa Fe College Civics Fair, taking place at the Oak Grove on Santa Fe College’s Northwest Campus.
SOE will also partner with the University of Florida for a “Read and Register” voter registration drive at the Oak Grove on Santa Fe College’s Northwest Campus from 1 p.m. to 3:30 p.m. at Library West on UF’s campus.
The deadline to register to vote in time for the 2024 General Election is Oct. 7. The election itself will be held on Nov. 5.
All registered voters, regardless of party affiliation, will be able to vote for candidates running in their electoral districts, and on state constitutional amendments.
Those who are not yet registered to vote can register online, in person or by mail.
Online, the voter registration portal requires a valid Florida state ID (driver’s license number or Florida ID Card number) and the last four digits of your social security number.
In person, residents can register at the Supervisor of Elections Office at 515 N. Main St. on the third floor, open from 8:30 a.m. to 5 p.m., Monday through Friday. Voter registration forms can also be completed and turned in at any Florida Department of Highway Safety and Motor Vehicles office, or any Alachua County Public Library.
To register by mail, residents can find a form online at VoteAlachua.gov, fill it out and mail it to the Supervisor of Elections office. Completed forms must be received before 5 p.m. on Oct. 7.
Voters who are already registered can verify and update their voter registration status at https://www.votealachua.gov/My-Registration-Status, by calling 352-374-5252 or by visiting the Alachua County Supervisor of Elections Office in person.
The SOE encourages voters to make any updates to their voter registration in advance of election day, as changes could impact their assigned polling place.
