Officers from the Gainesville Police Department responded to complaints of individuals driving around while waving firearms near the 1400 block of NW 6th Street earlier this week.
GPD detectives quickly learned that the suspects driving while waving firearms were recording their activities on Facebook Live. After locating the vehicle and observing a traffic infraction, GPD officers pulled the vehicle over. Simultaneously, the Facebook Live video recorded the suspects attempting to hide the firearms and a large amount of narcotics prior to being contacted by the officers.
During a subsequent search of the area, GPD officers located three firearms and 28 grams of MDMA. One of the firearms recovered was reported stolen to GPD.
All three suspects in the vehicle were then arrested. Javon Myhand, 27, was charged with Tampering with Evidence, Possession of a Firearm by a Convicted Felon, and Driving While License Suspended. Ronald Phipps, 25, was charged with Tampering with Evidence and Carrying a Concealed Firearm. Isaiah Pace, 28, was charged with Possession of a Firearm by a Convicted Felon. All three suspects admitted to handling the firearms and narcotics.
Myhand, Phipps, and Pace have also been questioned on the recent homicide of Kurry Jackson that occurred on July 13, 2020 at the Days Inn (1901 SW 13th Street).
