The Actor’s Warehouse will perform the radio play “It Can’t Happen Here” in Gainesville.

The performances will take place at 7:30 p.m. over three Mondays on Oct. 7, Oct. 14 and Nov. 4 at the Unitarian Universalist Fellowship of Gainesville (4225 NW 34th St.).

Described as “a cautionary dark satire about the fragility of democracy and how fascism can take hold even in the land of liberty,” the radio play written by Sinclair Lewis follows the rise of a demagogue who becomes president of the United States by promising to restore the country to greatness. It highlights the ease with which democratic values can be eroded.
